Digital Desktop Wallpaper

An interesting collection of photographs by Martin Wilson ranging from artistic urban
observations to stylish and often remarkable shots of BMX bike maneuvers.
Mancubist
Not just photos but also "a website about Manchester. Recurring themes include culture,
art, music, media and technology in the rainy city"
Music
Brownswood
Recordings
Giles Peterson's London based record label is everything you would expect from GP and
plays host to Jose James and Soil and Pimp Sessions!
Compost
The German Compost label is one of the prime sources of all that is most innovative in
contemporary Jazz, Fusion, and Cross-Over sounds. This site has the full catalogue and
loads of MP3 downloads.
Deaf To Van Gogh's Ear
A natural progression from Hungry Hahaha. Deaf to Vangogh's Ear (a playful twist on the title of an Allen Ginsberg poem) is a new band formed by Evan Wilson and Adam Stafford manifesting a development on Hungry's math rock / "Puzzle Pop" styles. DTVGE are already headlining the upper echelon of the Manchester gig circuit and appear to be spearheading something of a refreshing new wave or character for alternative music in Manchester.
Factory
Pure nostalgia for all things Factory. This appears to be one of the most active sites
offering a broad range of info on this iconic Mancunian institution.
Journal Writers

Dickon Edwards
Mr Edwards is a singer song writer and former front man of the 90s romo-soul band
Orlando. He is also the doyen of on line diarists and continues to produce one of the
most eloquent and engaging “weblogs” around.

Laurence
Armstrong-Hughes
Mr Hughes is a composer and writer/ broadcaster on music. His weblog "musings" convey a
romantic affection for the more timeless qualities of English culture and a nomadic
bohemian life on Britain’s inland waterways .

Urban Imp
Gill Heritage’s site is a charming collection of diaries based on and around
observations in her own green urban oasis. She has introduced a subtext of pagan
spirituality and structures the diary according to the Neo Pagan tree months.
Gill’s revamped site now contains a plethora of information, thoughts and ideas on
all aspects of sustainable living and environmentalism. All of it based around a number
of practical ventures from an allotment to the family home. Loads of good ideas for
saving money and becoming more detached from the "energy marketplace"

Bollington Carbon Revolution
Prestbury's slightly larger neighbour takes the lead in forward thinking and planning for our low carbon future. Bollington Carbon Revolution is mostly comprised of a group of dedicated volunteers and environmental specialists committed to implementing a range of 21st Century Eco projects in Bolli. One of the most exciting of these is a hydro power plant on the river Dane. Bollington was once home to the largest water wheel in Europe which was used to power Mills in the town.
