Early morning cycle trip
The weather recently has been absolutely magnificent, whole days with uninterrupted sunshine and clear cloudless skies but not too hot. Perfect conditions for cycling and photography.
On Sunday the 6th I decided to set out on a long-ish trip with some relatively new detours, some of which I only discovered in 2023! I decided that I was going to ride over to Hale with a return via Styal and Handforth but this time I was going to go via Wilmslow and Mobberley in a kind of zig-zag. From Wilmslow I turned off toward Mobberley and then cut across back to Wilmslow road via the very interesting off-road route that skirts the perimeter of Manchester airport. One of the notable features of this ride is the huge and cavernous tunnel through which the river Bollin and a footpath pass under runway 2 at the airport.
Once back on to Wilmslow road I headed toward Hale Barns following a very familiar and well travelled route but with a little detour to briefly visit the airport viewing park, which was absolutely packed with people having a day out of sorts.
Other new adventures for 2025 will include a lot of exploration into Staffordshire – no doubt with plenty of focus on the West Coast Mainline principal route.
