Early hours at Nancy
An early hours trip to White Nancy, I mean very early hours! These pictures were taken at 3 and 4am. I wanted to try to capture something of a liminal feel, the transition from night to dawn when the sky is just starting to brighten up and often has a cold blue colour. This often results in images that have a flat and becalmed feel. Both of these pictures were shot with bulb exposure mode and have very long exposure times at 100iso. Needless to say, that my old camera produces a lot of sensor noise in these conditions!
It was an interesting an inspiring couple of hours. I walked along Kerridge Ridge for the first time in several years. Fantastic views to the east.

Light painting
Both of these pictures have been ‘helped’ with a bit of light painting from my powerful LED torch. In fact, light painting was my initial objective but then I decided that I wanted to focus more attention on the liminal quality of this time of the morning and that very special blue sky light.
