Something of a departure from my usual image style with its characteristic density and weight; a lone fisherman on the shoreline at New Brighton. It is a four second (tripod) exposure taken under diminished early evening light last October. It immediately struck me as a classic – maybe slightly clichéd scene and composition, but one that lends itself perfectly to a ‘minimalist’ treatment. In the edit I started by preparing the image for a high-key monochrome print but was uninspired by the resultant flatness and so decided to experiment with split-toning and grain textures to create this more ethereal quality.
