The Cage is an interesting and very historic monument in the grounds of beautiful Lyme Park. It’s primary purpose was hunting lodge but it also has a dungeon or cellar lock up that was used to imprison and punish illegal poachers. Consequently there are many haunting, ghost myths and legends associated with this place and it does always have a slightly eerie and imposing atmosphere.
