Vintage Pylon March Past

Pylons New Mills
Pylons New Mills

Vintage pylons on the march in Derbyshire, they came striding over the hill with an attitude of unstoppable determination. I quite like to photographer landscape scenes that also include some odd embellishments either man-made or natural. To me there was something quite charming about these pylons appearing to stride fourth over the distant hill … as if they were purposefully and carefully ‘man-handling’ (carrying) the power-lines from New Mills sub station to some distant location in need of energy.

This picture was taken from the Sett Valley trail or the former New Mills to Hayfield railway which was a short single track branch line that sadly closed in 1968, and is now part of the Sustrans network of cycle paths.
